I used to play a game called Telephone as a kid. The first person in a line or circle would whisper a word or phrase into the ear of the person sitting or standing to their right. The game continues by players whispering the phrase to their neighbors until it reaches the last player in line. As you probably have guessed, when the message reaches the final player it is much different than how it began.

Fast forward to 2022 and now that game can be referred to as Facebook. Spoiler alert - now everything on Facebook is true and even worse, your friends on Facebook really don't know everything. Crazy right?

I saw a post a day or so ago on the Burton City Chat Facebook page. A woman inquired about who purchased the old Walli's building on Center Road in Burton. As you can imagine, there were more random comments than actual answers.

According to one person who responded, the building was sold to a Burton Center Group, LLC out of Warren. I cannot confirm or deny that.

There was also speculation about the empty building being turned into a blood bank, a weed shop, and a gas station. Other people adding to the conversation were hopeful for a Red Lobster, other contributors were hopeful for a sports complex or a strip club. Not every comment on this particular thread was serious let alone accurate - but fun to read nonetheless.

You can read the full post with comments here. My question regarding this topic is twofold,

  • Does anyone really know what is happening with this property?
  • What business would you like to see open in this spot?

Fun fact, I was once kicked out of the Firkin' and Fox for taking part in a mustard fight. Just call me classy - like a cigarette burn.
