For whatever reason, Michiganders have had to endure an overwhelming number of construction projects throughout the state this year. Don't get me wrong, these projects are much needed, it's just been a lot.
From detours to closed roads, I think we're all asking the same question...when will it end?
When Does Road Construction Season End in Michigan?
Most people usually just assume that road construction comes to an end as soon as fall starts. However, that's just not the case.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), there isn't a specific date that marks the end of road construction in Michigan. Typically, most projects wrap up by the end of November. It all depends on Mother Nature.
MDOT:
It is important to remember fall does not mark the end of Michigan’s road construction season. In fact, depending on weather conditions, many road and bridge projects will last through November.
Along with all the construction projects this year, Michiganders also had to get used to the new hands-free law that went into effect on June 30th.
What is the Hands-Free Law?
The hands-free law makes it illegal to manually use a cell phone or other mobile electronic device while operating a vehicle on Michigan roads.
