Where Are The Best Dive Bars In Genesee And Lapeer Counties?
According to the internet the term dive was first used in the press in the United States in the 1880's to describe disreputable places that were often in basements into which one 'dives below'.
Fast forward many, many, many years and dive bar - a once not so flattering term, has turned into a badge of honor for a lot of bar owners. I feel it. There is nothing better than a great dive bar. Where the staff is sassy, the drinks are strong and the food (if they serve food) is always on point.
A good dive bar is never trendy. It should be stale AF, that is the beauty of it. You will be impressed with the fact that the decor is not impressive. I picture the perfect dive bar to be small, without much lighting. I'll take a jukebox over a television any day too.
That being said, two questions for you, where are your favorite dive bars in Gennesee County and Lapeer County and will you share them with me? I know sometimes when people find a great spot, they tend to keep it a little quiet. I get it. You want your favorite dive bar to remain a dive bar. It will, I promise.
Tell me why your favorite dive bar is so special. I want to compile a list of 10 or more local spots that fit the dive bar bill. I am willing to check them out in person for journalistic purposes of course (wah wah).
