Will You Be Resting Your Liver Throughout The Month of Dryuary?
Welcome to the month of January, also known as 'Drynuary'. If you are not familiar with Dryuary and of Dry January - it means abstaining from alcohol the entire month of January. It is quite common, I have never participated - but I know plenty of people that have.
I first heard of it a few years ago, my friend Erin did it, and continues to do it every year. Even if you drank over the weekend, you can still start. From what I am told, and from what I have read, the results can be pretty amazing.\
First and foremost, most everyone that puts down the bottle for 30 days, loses weight. That is just one of the benefits. According to Self, other benefits include improved sleep, overall health, and it is good for your immune system.
I know people that have drank more than usual since the pandemic, and I know people who have cut way down, or even quit because we can't go to bars. I am in the second group. Without shows at The Machine Shop, and my weekly Sunday all day brunches at The Corner Bar, I am not drinking as much as I used to. You are not going to believe this, but I can't even remember the last time I had a shot of tequila. WTF is wrong with me?
If you are joining the Drynuary bandwagon, good for you. If not, good for you too. You do you. If you are doing it, let me know what your results are at the end of the month. Who knows, maybe by then you can tell me over a drink inside of a bar?
