As a HUGE movie guy, it pains me to say that 2011 doesn't have much scheduled that I'm excited about. However, I am really looking forward to Kevin Smith's first stab at horror.  I really want this to be the film that shuts up the internet haters who have nothing to say abouth Smith other than recycled fat jokes.

#1. Red State: Growing up in the 90's made me partial to a few things: mainly grunge music and Kevin Smith films. I will be the first to admit that his track record as of late has not been too impressive. I thought Clerks 2 was incredible!  Then he tried to make a Judd Apatow movie with "Zack and Miri Make a Porno". While it wasn't terrible and I did laugh quite a few times (come on, Dutch rudder. lol), it was his second worst right above "Jersey Girl" (still not terrible, just not incredible). Next he chose to direct (a script he did NOT write) "Cop Out", and it received terrible reviews. All of his films usually do but I did not see it so I can't really tell you otherwise.

Now Silent Bob strikes back with his first attempt at writing and directing a horror flick. The plot sounds very sign of the times, free thinking kids who encounter hardcore fundamentalism (probably compliments of Glenn Beck viewers) in middle America. A subject Kevin knows all to well, he received several death threats after making a movie that dealt with religion in an unconventional manor (See "Dogma"...seriously go see it, it's awesome!). I am glad Kevin is back working on his OWN projects and I think he is about due for a comeback. The film is already in the can and last I heard he was seeking distribution.
