21 Out of the Ordinary Scholarships Michigan Students Can Receive

There is a lot of scholarship money up for grabs for students in Michigan.

When it comes to scholarships, most people think of only the most obvious types. Academic, athletic, and music seem to be the most obvious, but there are so many more out there. Students in Michigan can earn scholarships for being tall, having Amish descent, and even creatively using duct tape for prom.

My daughter just recently turned 16 and is a sophomore in high school. So naturally, we have been talking a lot about her future and college life. The one thing I don't want her to do is to go into debt from college loans. That is a mistake that I made and I don't want her to suffer the stress of that.

In our discussions, we started talking about scholarships and ways to keep from acquiring student loan debt. When I was growing up, I remember hearing about some of the scholarships that my cousins received and there were two that stuck out. My cousins were twins and very tall and that's just what they received scholarships for. One for being tall and another for being twins. So of course, we decided to look into other odd, weird, and ridiculous scholarships that are out there.

Needless to say, there is no shortage of scholarship money out there. Students can receive scholarship money from the National Grocers Association Asparagus Club, the National Marbles Tournament, a Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship, and so many more.
