$500 Reward Offered After Dog Found Crammed in Small Cage on Michigan Roadside
I don't know how anyone could ever abandon their pet and just leave them on the side of the road.
According to Friends For Animals of Metro Detroit Facebook page, a dog weighing over 60 pounds was rescued from the side of the road on the south end of Dearborn. He was found crammed into a small dog crate along with a feeder, dishes, and dog toys.
Thankfully someone saw the dog on the side of the road and rescued him immediately and called the police. This handsome boy was taken to Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit and seemed to be in healthy condition.
Honestly, I'm surprised the poor boy was left with his food dish and dog toys. On more than one occasion, we've told some heartbreaking stories of animals being abandoned in unbelievable situations.
According to MLive, Abandonment of a pet is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine and 30 days in jail. The shelter is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
I don't get why people do this when they can simply take them to a shelter. Some people are so freaking lazy and after they realize how much goes into owning a pet, they just get rid of them.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Dearborn Police Department at 313-943-2240 or FAMD at 313-943-2697.
