Adam & Eve – Is The Adult Novelty Store Coming To Lapeer?

Update 1/12/23 - The store was voted down based on location, but that does not mean another location in Lapeer will not pass.

Social media is a buzz today about the possibility of an adult novelty store opening in Lapeer.

City of Lapeer Commissioner, Eric Cattane, posted the following information via Facebook about the possibility of Adam & Eve opening in Lapeer,

We have a "Adam and Eve" store wanting to come into town. Adult retail establishment. Lingerie etc etc.. Not a topic I wanted to kick off the New Year's with. But hey, here we are. Looking thru the ordinances of the City personally as well as the reccomendations from City staff. I came to the conclusion that if we were to deny this establishment we would violate our own laws, therefore open the City to legal issues.

As you can imagine, the comments section under Mr. Cattane's original post blew up. To be fair, most of them were about disc golf - not Adam & Eve.

For those of you unfamiliar with Adam and Eve, the company sells adult products. All patrons must be 18 years of age and up to make purchases. Adam & Eve employees will ask for proper identification should a guest look younger than 25 years old.
