Auto Parts Supplier Leases Former Delphi Building Bringing Jobs To Flint
Jobs will soon be returning to Flint in the former Delphi building.
The former Delphi building off Center Road in Flint has been sitting empty just waiting for a new business since November of 2013. Now, the old plant will see some workers through the door once again with a new lease from an auto parts supplier.
Hirotec America is an international auto parts supplier based in Japan that has its United States headquarters in Auburn Hills. Hirotec is a leader in the automotive industry specializing in the production of body-in-white closures, exhaust systems, and closure manufacturing equipment. Hirotec will give new life to the former Delphi building with a five-year lease.
We’re excited to welcome the company to our community. We’re excited that they were drawn to this area because of the workforce. What it means is another vacant building being put to good use, and I think that’s a good story for the community...These people who work at this place will get their haircut, and they’ll go out to eat, and they’ll give to their church, and those are all good things for the multiplier effect in our community...said Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance, Tyler Rossmaessler.
In the future, Hirotec America plans to bring around 70 new jobs to the Flint area, of which, 40 to 50 of them will be local hires. The Flint facility for Hirotec will revolve around tooling integration for automotive manufacturers.
This is awesome! I'm glad to see jobs heading back to Flint and companies utilizing the facilities that we have.
