It’s no secret that Big Lots is making major changes after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Earlier this year, the company announced that it will be closing stores nationwide, including several right here in Michigan.

On September 9th, Big Lots announced it struck a deal with Nexus Capital Management, where Nexus agreed to buy up most of the company’s assets and keep the business running.

As part of the court-supervised sale, Big Lots is looking at its operations and will be closing more stores. They’re also reviewing how their distribution centers work to make things more efficient.

While the company continues to announce more closures in other states, 10 of the 46 stores listed in Michigan are expected to close by the end of the year.

We mentioned last month that this is part of a bigger plan to eventually close 300 stores. However, we just got word that the number is growing, as they’re now looking to close nearly 350 stores.
