How Long This Brutal Cold Will Stick Around in Michigan
If it feels like Michigan just fell into a deep freeze, you’re not imagining it. This week is bringing the coldest temperatures the state has seen in years, with wind chills that make you question every life choice that involves leaving the house.
We’re talking numbers we really haven’t dealt with since around 2019.
Highs have been stuck in the teens, or worse, overnight lows are dipping below zero, and the wind is doing that thing where it feels personal. We’re talking real temperatures below zero during the day and wind chills around minus 20 to minus 25 from Friday through Saturday morning. Come on.

When Will Michigan Get a Break From These Bitter Cold Temps?
The short answer is not soon enough. But there is at least some light at the end of the frozen tunnel. The worst of this Arctic blast should start easing up toward the middle of next week.
That doesn’t mean we’re rolling straight into hoodie weather. Not even close. Daytime temperatures next week will still hang in the teens for the most part. And according to The Weather Channel, we probably won’t even crawl back into the 20s until around February 1.

After that, it’s anyone’s guess. This is Michigan, and it’s almost impossible to predict the weather more than a few days out, let alone weeks. But if history repeats itself, February is usually when things start to balance out a bit.
In other words, hang in there, my friends. We’re almost through the worst of it.
