New Roundabout Puts 65-Year-Old Burton Market at Risk
If the plan for a new roundabout goes through, Nehring’s Market in Burton could be in trouble.
I’m all for a solid roundabout if it means getting rid of another four-way stop, but not if it means possibly losing a beloved market that’s been part of our community for 65 years.
On June 23, there is a meeting at Burton City Hall about the roundabout and possibly what it means for Nehring’s Market.

Katie Nehring, owner of Nehring’s Market, said in a social media post that the planned roundabout could threaten the future of the longtime business.
A New Roundabout at Bristol and Beslay in Burton
The problem with a roundabout at Bristol and Belsay is what it would do to Nehring’s Market and its customers. It would shut down two of the main entrances to the parking lot.
Why is this a problem? Well, parking would become an absolute nightmare for customers trying to get in and out of the lot. There would be less parking overall, and delivery trucks would have to squeeze between parked cars. They say two-thirds of the lot would be blocked during deliveries. See? An absolute nightmare.
I’m sure the construction would also wreck their sales for however long it takes to finish the project.
For a business that’s been serving the community for 65 years, this must feel like a total slap in the face.
I’ve been going to Nehring’s for years, and I’d hate to see something like this end up shutting them down.
How You Can Help and Support Nehring's Market
There’s something you can do to help, whether you live in Burton or not. You can show up at the meeting on June 23 and support Nehring’s Market.
