If you drive anywhere near the GM complex in Flint, get ready to be annoyed for a few days.

The railroad crossing at 12th Street and Van Slyke is shut down after crews found damage on the tracks. It's unclear exactly what broke or how it happened, but it’s bad enough that Canadian National had to order new parts. In other words, this isn’t getting fixed today, tomorrow, or probably the rest of the week.

According to MLive, the city says repairs should be wrapped up by early next week (hopefully), but until then, that intersection is closed. If you normally take 12th as your east-west shortcut, especially during rush hour, you might want to mentally prepare yourself now.

You’ll see detour signs up, but honestly, just avoid the whole area if you can. There’s no quick way around the closed intersection. You’re either going to be stuck in traffic or forced to zigzag through side streets with everyone else trying to dodge the mess.

The city says it’ll share updates once CN gets rolling on repairs. Until then…welcome to what’s left of road construction season in Flint. Just kidding, there's lots more still out there.

Ever hit an animal while driving in Michigan? Well, it turns out some of them need to be reported. We'll break down the animals you have to call in if you hit them. It’s not just about doing the right thing; it’s also about avoiding any legal issues.

So, who do you call? If you hit one of these animals, you’ll want to contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or local law enforcement. If it’s an actual emergency, call 911; otherwise, just dial the non-emergency number. They’ll handle the situation and make sure everything's squared away. Just don’t forget to report it.
