What’s the Hold-Up? Davison’s New Restaurant Still Isn’t Open

While many businesses in Genesee County, like Big Lots, Joann Fabrics, and possibly Hooters, are shutting down for good, at least there’s some good news with new restaurants opening in Davison.

Remember back in September when everyone was buzzing about what was going into the old Señor Lucky's building on M-15 in Davison? At the time, the word on the street (and Facebook) was that the owners of Starlite were working on a brand-new restaurant, and people were pumped.

A quick scroll through Facebook recently, especially in the Davison Area Community group, makes it clear that people are getting antsy. There’s been lots of speculation, a few sarcastic comments, and the usual mix of pointless jokes, but the big question remains: Why hasn’t the place opened yet?

Someone recently asked this question of Facebook after noticing there hadn't been a lot of activity around the building for the past couple of months. Of course, this doesn't mean things weren't happening on the inside.

Why Hasn't the New Restaurant Opened in Davison Yet?

After seeing the post, the new restaurant's owner chimed in.

"We’ve had a couple of hang-ups with the architect and structural engineer. We have encountered a lot of different variables and are making sure that everything is done correctly before starting the actual remodel. We are close, but nothing moves as quickly as you want it to."

As you can imagine, taking on a project like this isn't going to happen overnight.

"Once our permits are in place, we will be more diligent with keeping the community up to date. It’s been frustrating, to say the least, but on the back side, it’s giving us time to make sure it will be the spot Davison will love."

While I'm sure it's kind of annoying to have to answer to people on social media all the time, at least it shows that people are getting excited for something new to open.

So just be patient; it sounds like they will more than likely be open sometime this summer.
