It takes a real lowlife to throw away a pet as if it's nothing more than a piece of trash.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to an adorable dog at an apartment complex in Ann Arbor this week. While taking out her trash on Tuesday, Gin Walker opened the dumpster lid and saw two little eyes staring back at her. It was a scared, cold, and starving dog sitting in a pile of trash.

It was obvious the dog didn’t open the lid and climb into the dumpster on his own. Someone had to have put him there.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, Walker started freaking out and yelling for help before realizing a simple 911 call would do the trick.

When the police arrived, they were relieved the dog was still alive, but it was in rough shape. It had a mass on its side and couldn’t stand on its own.

The dog was taken to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, where it will be cared for as police investigate who in their right mind could do something so awful.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley shared the details on their website and is asking for donations to help.

Rescued on Tuesday, this dog has a large tumor on his side and had to be lifted from the dumpster in a sling. He's safely in our shelter now, and AAPD is seeking information. We appreciate all donations for him and animals like him.

They also mentioned that the dog wasn’t wearing a collar and hadn’t been microchipped.

I understand that circumstances come up, and during tough times, it may be difficult to care for a pet, but that is no excuse to toss them away like garbage. There are options out there that don’t put the dog’s life at risk, like reaching out to shelters or rescue groups for help.

I hope they find who did this to this poor dog and throw the book at them.
