Dollar General must be doing something right, because they just announced they’re planning to open hundreds of new stores across the country in 2026.

I know what you’re thinking. Didn’t Dollar General announce store closures this year? Yes, they did, but those were underperforming stores and a tiny number compared to how many they’re planning to open.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, they’re not planning to put those new stores in big cities. Nope, they’re shifting their focus to smaller towns and rural areas instead.

Here’s the part that might surprise you. It’s not just bargain hunters shopping there anymore. Things have really changed over the years. More higher-income people are now shopping at Dollar General. Everybody’s just trying to make their money go further right now, and Dollar General knows it. It just goes to show more and more people are sick of paying higher prices at the bigger stores.

Are More Dollar General Stores Coming to Michigan

Dollar General didn’t name specific cities yet, but since the focus is on small towns and rural areas, Michigan is very likely to see more stores.
