Emergency Door Flies Off Flight to Upper Peninsula
An Upper Peninsula man needed a change of underwear after the emergency door flew off the plane he was travelling on. He also needed a new bag because the one he brought on the plane got sucked out of the cabin.
According to KBJR, A Wakefield, Michigan man plans to take his concerns to the Gogebic County Board after he says an emergency exit door ripped off a plane just moments before his flight from Minneapolis to Ironwood, MI was about to take off Wednesday.
Tom Yon was seated relatively close to the door that flew off the small, 8-person plane flown by Boutique Airlines, which is a private airline company.
Passenger Tom Yon:
We were just about to take off, probably going I don't know 100 miles per hour and the door just flew off. There was a loud bang and the door flew off and the noise and the wind and everything.
The air and suction was so powerful that it sucked his carry-on bag right out the door. He was lucky enough to get it back that same day though.
It was scary. It was scary. If there would have been a person sitting on the plane with a baby on their lap, I don't know what would have happened.
Thankfully the plane never left the ground so after the door came off, they returned to the gate. Could you imagine if that had happened while they were in the air?
I think it would be a while before I'd be able to get on a plane again.
