Farewell to Flint’s Fuddruckers – Scratch BBQ to Open in Early Summer 2022

Fuddruckers on Austin Parkway was a Flint staple for nearly 35 years until they recently closed their doors for good.

While it's sad to see another business shut down after so many years, it's nice knowing the building won't be sitting vacant very long. Later this year, the former building will become the new home of Scratch BBQ & Catering.

What is Scratch BBQ?

Scratch BBQ specializes in making quality BBQ and side dishes from scratch.

Scratch BBQ & Catering first began in 2014 when owner Mike Lintz was trying to save his church some money on a luncheon. He suggested pulled pork because it was cheap at the time. The event went so well and there was so much positive feedback that it inspired Lintz to purchase his first smoker. By word of mouth, he started doing open houses and family events. Then things started to get bigger and Lintz began doing weddings and corporate events. Now, Mike and his family will start their next BBQ chapter by opening up their own restaurant in the former Fuddruckers building.

I would have to imagine this new adventure will be a bit of a challenge for Mike and his wife as they're also full-time teachers in Flushing.

When Will Scratch BBQ in Flint Officially Open Their Doors?

According to a post on their Facebook page, Scratch BBQ will open up to the public sometime in early summer of 2022.

Welcome to the future home of Scratch BBQ. This is the old Fuddruckers building off of Miller Rd and I-75/I-69 interchange in Flint. Our goal is to be open early summer to serve you bbq on a daily basis.

We want to wish the Lintz family the best of luck and we'll be sure to try their BBQ when they open their doors this summer.
