Unfortunately, so many businesses have come and gone in Genesee County over the years. However, we're reminded of many due to signs or buildings that still stand as silent markers of the past, bringing back memories of places we used to visit and the good times we had there.

Sometimes, the sign remains but the building is long gone, or the sign is gone but the building remains. Either way, it's nice to know we still have some landmarks that remind us of the area's bars, restaurants, and retail stores that once meant so much to us.

It's hard to drive past the deteriorating Miracle Twin Drive-In Theatre sign in Burton and not think about all the movies we got to see there back in the day. It's been a long time, though, as the theater has been closed since 2008.

In the early '90s, I spent nearly every weekend at Conto's on Dort Highway in Flint. At the time, we had a really strong local rock scene, and Conto's was at the heart of it. If Flint favorites Lazy Bones were playing, I was there, and so was everybody else.
