Flint Firebirds’ Annual ‘Backpack Night’ is Saturday
The Flint Firebirds return to home ice on Saturday for their annual "Backpack Night" at Dort Financial Credit Union Event Center.
The Firebirds are set to take on the Guelph Storm and the puck will drop at 7 pm. Be sure to get to the game early to participate in the annual "Backpack Night." The Firebirds will be raising funds to feed children at risk of hunger in a partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. The goal of the Backpack Program with the Food Bank is to provide children with food to meet their weekend nutritional needs. Each backpack they provide to a child includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, and several snacks for the weekend.
To raise money for the program, the Firebirds will be hosting a silent auction with 10 authentic, custom jerseys along with other items from the community sponsors and businesses. All of the 50/50 proceeds from the night will also go to the School Backpack Program.
