Uptown Reinvestment Corp. has just inked a deal to purchase the Capitol Theatre in Downtown Flint and already have some major plans for the historical venue.

Flint's Capitol Theatre used to be the spot. AC/DC, Pantera, Slayer and Black Sabbath are just a few of the legendary acts that have graced the stage at the venue, which has a capacity of 2000. Now that ownership of the historic site has changed hands, we may see all kinds of big-name musical acts adding tour dates in the 810.

Earlier today, the Uptown Reinvestment Corp. signed an agreement to purchase the Capitol from the Farah family, who have owned the theater for 38 years. The new owners, the URC, are behind many of the recent renovation projects in Downtown Flint, including the new Flint Farmers' Market.

The URC are planning to spend $21 million on renovation of the theater, which means that place will be better than ever! They are looking to relaunch the theater with a grand opening in 18-24 months.

Here's a look at the current state of the Capitol Theatre.
