Genesee County Neighborhood Experiences Flooding Like Never Before
Genesee County got hammered with rain earlier this week, all thanks to Hurricane Beryl. While we didn't experience hurricane conditions, we certainly experienced the remnants.
Most of Michigan felt the aftereffects of Hurricane Beryl, but Genesee County was one of the hardest-hit areas.
For hours and hours, much of the state experienced nonstop heavy rainfall.
According to WNEM, these are the highest rain totals in mid-Michigan from Hurricane Beryl:
- Richfield Center - 7.05"
- Burton - 6.79"
- Atlas - 6.05"
- Davison 5.92"
- Lapeer - 5.53"
- Grand Blanc - 5.10"
- Swartz Creek - 3.90"
- Flint - 3.39"
Parts of Genesee County didn't see any rain on Tuesday evening, while others were hit hard. The majority of the rain began overnight into Wednesday and continued throughout most of the day.
There were many flooded neighborhoods in Genesee County, but one stood out the most, likely because photos were being shared all over social media. Birdland subdivision endured significant flooding. Some say it was the worst they had ever seen in the neighborhood. It won't come as a surprise, especially after you see the photos.

While many yards and basements were flooded, there was one guy who made the best out of a bad situation.
Unfortunately, we haven't seen the last of the rain just yet. There’s a possibility of more rain tonight, tomorrow morning, and possibly on Sunday as well. At least we'll stay dry on Saturday. However, it's expected to be hot and humid with temps in the upper 80s.
