It’s not every October weekend in Michigan that you can ditch the hoodie for t-shirts and shorts, but that’s exactly what’s happening this time around in Genesee County.

We’re looking at unseasonably warm temps today that will stick around straight through Monday. In fact, we could be flirting with record highs before it’s all said and done.

The average high in October sits in the mid-60s. While we’ll get back to those more “normal” fall temps next weekend, this weekend is going to be way off the charts.

Record Highs for October 4 & 5 in Genesee County

Here’s where things get interesting. According to Extreme Weather, for Flint and the rest of Genesee County, the record high for October 4 is 88°, and for October 5 it’s 87°. Those numbers have been sitting in the books since way back in the 1950s.

If we’re talking upper 80s this weekend, we’re not just getting a little bonus heat in October, we’re looking at a possible new record high for the area. Saturday’s forecast is calling for 88°, which would tie the record, and Sunday isn’t far off either at 86°, just a degree shy of the mark.

Simply put, there’s a pretty good chance we’re breaking records this weekend. The bad news? That warm spell won’t last long, with reality setting back in next week.

After our possible record-setting weekend, we’ll slide right back into more typical fall weather. Highs drop into the 60s by midweek, which means those of you wanting hoodie weather will get it.
