Governor Whitmer Announces Restaurant Capacity Boost
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer held a press conference today, not only did she give an update on statewide coronavirus vaccinations - it was also announced that restaurant and bars may now operate at 50% capacity, with a curfew of 11:00 PM beginning Friday, March 5th.
If you have loved one in a nursing home, visitation will resume - with proof of a negative COVID-19 diagnosis. There were also restrictions lifted for entertainment venues too.
This is still not back to where we were prior to the pandemic, so obviously everyone is not going to be pleased. I am hopeful the announcements today will not spark another kidnapping attempt, but I am quite sure there will be a lot of bitching and complaining on social media per usual.
Nonetheless, at least these are steps forward - not backwards. I am looking forward to seeing my friends that own bars and or restaurants, as well as friends that are service workers - make more money. I think we can all agree (or at least most of us can), that these people have really been put to the test over the last 11 months.
According to WOOD TV, the order also loosens restrictions at entertainment venues like movie theaters and bowling alleys to 50% capacity or 300 people.
I still one hundred percent believe in social distancing. I am not throwing caution to the wind at all. I will still wear my mask when I am outside of my home, but I am glad I have a better chance of getting a table somewhere now.
