Higher Speed Limits in Michigan Approved by The State
The state House has approved a package of bills to raise speed limits on more than 1,000 miles of highway in the state.
If the Senate approves, we could some highways increasing the speed limit to 75 mph while other highways could jump to 60 mph.
There was an earlier version of the bill that was looking to increase speeds to 80 mph but because of deteriorating roads in Michigan, they felt it was a recipe for more accidents and fatalities so lawmakers pulled the plug on that one.
The legislation now goes to the Senate for consideration. If it passes, we'll be setting our cruise control to 75 mph (of course most of us will set it 80 mph anyway).
