BIllboard has shared top-10 lists of the highest-selling rock albums and songs of 2018 so far. They break down the biggest records based on both traditional sales and streaming-equivalent units, as well as digital single-song sales and streams with and without video.

Unsurprisingly, Imagine Dragons lead every category except traditional album sales, where they're at No. 2; their most recent LP, Evolve, was released in 2017. The group currently boasts over 35,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, which places them as the 13th most popular artist in the world on the streaming service.

As a genre, rock still relies heavily on traditional sales as opposed to streaming. Five Finger Death Punch are at No. 8 on the Top 10 Rock Albums Overall chart with their 2017 hits collection A Decade of Destruction. Metallica's 2016 Hardwired... to Self-Destruct, Breaking Benjamin's Ember (released earlier this year), Greta Van Fleet's 2017 From the Fires and Five Finger Death Punch's And Justice for None (also released earlier this year) all placed on the solely traditional Top 10 Selling Rock Albums chart.

However, many of the best selling albums are collections of old songs - generally in the form of a greatest hits collection (such as Elton John's Diamonds, Queen's Greatest Hits and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Greatest Hits) but there's also the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 which features mostly '70s hits.

Notable song performances include Bad Wolves' cover of the Cranberries' "Zombie," Disturbed's cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" and Skillet's "Monster."
