Jack White, former lead guitarist and frontman of the Detroit rock duo The White Stripes, has had quite a year. On top of getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2025, he's also found himself behind a different microphone.

On May 7th, the rock legend joined the Tigers commentators in the broadcast booth to give some play-by-play and talk about the Tigers and his recent entry into the Hall of Fame. While everyone thinks he's a great guitarist, it turns out he's also one of the biggest Tigers fans around, and he knows his stuff.

Trading White Stripes For Tiger Stripes

Jack White is a longtime Detroit Tigers fan, which isn't a huge surprise considering he's a Detroit native. But for the first time, he was invited to join the broadcast booth during the 3rd inning of a doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies. White was a natural in the booth, even correctly calling a fly ball in right field.

What's more surprising is that despite his busy touring schedule, White is always making time to watch his Tigers, claiming it can be difficult to watch the game when he's getting ready for a show. That doesn't stop him, though.

The Tigers had a doubleheader on May 8th, and when asked if he would be attending both games, White gave one of the most Rock and Roll answers ever:

Oh I don't know, it [the show] doesn't start until I get up there, so.

He really said it is my world and y'all are just living in it, which, when you're in the Hall of Fame,...fair enough.

White also shared the story of the last time he was part of the Tigers' broadcast. Back on April 8th, 2022, White played the National Anthem in Comerica Park. Not only did the Tigers win, but he also released an album and proposed to his wife on stage that night. Talk about a crazy day.

The Tigers went on to win both games against the Rockies that day, possibly due to White's presence in the stands. White played recent shows in Grand Rapids at GLC Live at 20 Monroe on April 15th and his show in Detroit at the Masonic Temple on April 12th.
