Don’t Eat It—Kroger Recalls Two Pasta Salads for Possible Contamination
Have you ever grabbed one of those pasta salads from the deli, thinking you’re saving yourself some time and dishes? Yeah, well, you might want to hold off on that for a bit.
Kroger just issued a voluntary recall on two of its pasta salad favorites: “Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad” and “Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad.” According to the FDA, both could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a nasty bacteria that can cause serious (and sometimes fatal) infections.

Here’s what to look for:
Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad
UPC: 217573-10000 (sold at the deli counter)
UPC: 217573-20000 (Grab-n-Go packages in the deli)
Sold between September 6 and October 2, 2025
Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad
UPC: 227573-10000 (sold both at the deli counter and in Grab-n-Go packages)
Sold between August 29 and October 2, 2025
The recall affects around 1,860 Kroger-owned stores across the country, including Baker’s, City Market, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, and others. Both salads were sold between August 29 and October 2.

If you’ve got one of these hanging out in your fridge, don’t risk it. The FDA says to toss it or bring it back to Kroger for a refund. It’s just not worth finding out the hard way.
