Lansing Teen Drowns in Pond After Falling From Raft
While floating on a raft outside the marked swim area in a Livingston pond this past Sunday, an 18-year-old fell into the water and drown.
According to ABC12, it took rescuers almost 2 hours to find the boy's body as he was found 24-feet down and 35-yards from the shore.
His family was on shore and unfortunately unable to save him. From what I read, the young man couldn't swim which totally blows my mind. Why in the world would he be in the water past the swim markers if he couldn't swim? Why wasn't he wearing a life vest? Why was he alone in the water? It really seems this sad situation could have been avoided. There could be more to the story but this is all we know at the moment.
My heart goes out to this family who is obviously devastated right now.
