A missing 6-year-old boy with autism was found dead earlier this week after drowning in his neighbor's pool.

According to ABC12, Chesterfield Township police had been searching for the boy throughout the day Thursday before he was found in the above-ground pool and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The poor little dude went missing in the morning and wasn't found until a neighbor found the boy in the pool and called 911. Police told residents in the neighborhood to check their sheds, pools, backyards etc.

The idea of young kids gaining unsupervised access to a pool has always freaked me out. When my son was young we had a pool and I was always on edge about him falling in even though I went above and beyond with safety measures.

Our hearts go out to this family.
