MAC Basketball Tournament On As Scheduled..But With No Fans
March Madness is underway this week with conference tournament games going on to see who makes it to the big dance and two league tournaments will have no fans in attendance at the games due to the concerns of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Mid-American Conference that has Eastern, Central and Western Michigan playing in the tournament in Cleveland, Ohio at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse will be playing their games without spectators in the stands. The league announced the decision to do this on Tuesday for both the men and womens games along with the Big West Conference which will be holding their games in Anaheim, Calif at the Honda Center.
Other conference tournaments including the ACC, BIG 12 and BIG 10 that all start today have announced that everything would go on without interruption aside from closing locker rooms to just players.
The Ivy League did not want to take any chances and completely canceled the entire league tournament. That decision came from the League commissioner and not the NCAA. Yale who won the regular-season title gets an automatic bid to the big dance on the men's side and the women's team from Princeton is also headed directly to the NCAA tourney.
