Michigan Bus Attendant Arrested After Hitting Non-Verbal 8-Year-Old
I don’t care how long you’ve worked with kids or how stressful your day is. Gross behavior like this is unacceptable.
What We Know About the Michigan School Bus Incident
Surveillance video allegedly shows a school bus attendant grabbing, shoving, and hitting an 8-year-old Michigan boy who has non-verbal autism. Come on. I honestly don’t understand how things like this even happen.
The incident happened back in October on a bus route through the Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, and Roscommon Intermediate School District, according to 9&10 News.

According to the boy’s mother, Jasmine Springberg, her son was grabbed by his coat, shoved into his seat, and hit twice by the bus attendant. Let that sink in for a second. This wasn’t a loud, out-of-control kid. This was an 8-year-old who couldn’t even verbally explain what happened to him.
That’s the part that makes my blood boil.
The suspect was arrested over the weekend and is facing charges including fourth-degree child abuse and assault and battery. He hasn’t been arraigned yet, but he no longer works for the bus company.

The whole thing only came to light because another parent was on the bus. Think about that for a second. If they hadn’t been there, this could’ve kept happening.
What’s still unclear is why it took so long for an arrest to finally happen.
