If you’ve got kids who take the bus, this is the kind of story that stops you in your tracks.

A student in Michigan was taken at gunpoint while waiting for the bus Monday morning in Hamtramck, and yeah…that’s about as scary as it sounds.

Where Did the Hamtramck Bus Stop Abduction Happen?

According to Fox 2 Detroit, the incident happened around 7 a.m. near Edwin and Pulaski while the student was standing at the bus stop.

At some point, a suspect pulled up, showed a gun, and forced the student into a vehicle.

Several other students actually witnessed the whole thing.

How Did Classmates Help Police Track the Suspect?

Here’s the part that almost sounds like something out of a movie.

Classmates immediately jumped into action, using cell phone data and social media to help track the student’s location. That information was passed along to the police right away.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle, make a stop, and take the suspect into custody.

Was the Hamtramck Student Found Safe?

Thankfully, this didn’t end the way it could have.

Police say the student was recovered safely and there’s no ongoing threat.

Who Abducted the Student in Hamtramck?

Right now, police haven’t released much about the suspect. There’s no name, no detailed description, or anything at this point.

There’s still a lot we don’t know.
