You would think by now people would know better.

A Michigan family says they were driving down Palms Road in St. Clair County Sunday night when something suddenly hit their vehicle, bounced through an open vehicle window, and struck a passenger in the shoulder. There was obvious damage to the hood and windshield.

According to WXYZ, Tom Agbay was driving with his son, TJ, when they heard a loud bang. TJ said whatever was thrown came through the window, hit him, and bounced away. His first reaction was thinking he had been shot.

Think about that for a minute. You're just driving down the road with your family, minding your own business, and then out of nowhere, something comes flying through the window. Your first thought? You've been shot. That's scary as hell.

Michigan Family Hit by Object Thrown Through Car Window

After dropping off the trailer they were hauling, they circled back to see what had happened. That's when they say they spotted three teenagers nearby and found another driver whose vehicle had apparently been hit, too.

Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt. But all it takes is one rock, one brick, or one piece of concrete hitting the wrong spot for somebody not to make it home.

Unfortunately, we've already seen how a story like this can end right here in Genesee County.

Michigan Drivers Still Remember the Fatal I-75 Rock Throwing Case

Stories like this hit a nerve in Michigan because we've seen how deadly these situations can become.

Back in 2017, five teenagers were accused of dropping rocks from an I-75 overpass near Vienna Road in Genesee County. One of those rocks crashed through a truck windshield and killed 32-year-old Kenneth White.

Police say they are investigating and taking the incident seriously. It's a hard lesson to learn, but these kids need to understand there are consequences for actions like this. Somebody could have been seriously hurt, and they should absolutely be held accountable if they're responsible.
