Michigan Grocery Store Accused of Overcharging on Sale Items
Michigan shoppers are not happy and rightfully so after finding out their favorite grocery store may have been ripping them off. Well, it’s being accused of it anyway after an investigation by Consumer Reports and other news organizations found some shady things going on.
You’re not going to like what we are about to tell you. The investigation found that one particular grocery chain with locations all over Michigan, including right here in Genesee County, was charging full price for a slew of items, including meat, alcohol, rice, and vegetables that were labeled as being on sale.

This practice is so dirty and gross. I mean, in the mind of the customer, they think the grocery store is doing them a favor by putting an item on sale when they are clearly just ripping them off.
What Michigan Grocery Store is Being Accused of Overcharging on Sale Items?
Alright, no more beating around the bush. The store we are talking about is Kroger. It is one of the biggest grocery chains in the country, and it has plenty of locations right here in Michigan.
The investigation found hundreds of expired sale tags at Kroger stores, some weeks or even months old. That meant shoppers were charged full price or more for items that were supposed to be on sale. Unless you’re really paying close attention, you probably have no idea this is even happening.

According to Consumer Reports, Kroger says the sales price tag errors they found were just a few dozen examples over several years out of billions of customer transactions each year. Does that make you feel better about the situation? Probably not.
