Well, it's official, more than a million Michiganders have signed up for the state’s vaccine lottery. I mean, if you got the shot, why wouldn't you sign up to win a bunch of cash?

According to MLive, as of July 6, there were 1,001,149 vaccinated residents who had signed up for their chance at the $1 million and $2 million prizes. That’s less than a quarter of the more than 4.5 million eligible vaccinated residents.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer:

The response by Michiganders to the MI Shot To Win Sweepstakes is outstanding. It’s exciting to see so many people signing up for the sweepstakes as they are the best messengers who can encourage their family and friends to get their COVID-19 vaccinations and help answer any questions they have about the process.

The first $50,000 winner was pulled this week but details haven't been released yet. I can tell you this, it wasn't me. The plan is to announce each winner the following week after they win.

It's not too late if you want to get registered. All you have to do is register at MIShotToWin.com. I signed up as soon as it became available, I'm all about winning some cash, not that I'll ever win but it's fun nonetheless.

The MI Shot To Win Sweepstakes is being handled by Meijer and United Way and funded by federal COVID-19 relief dollars. I only tell you this because I know people are going to be whining in the comments about where the money is coming from.

There is some serious cash being handed out for this including $1 million, $2 million, and daily $50k drawings. Not to mention multiple scholarship drawings for those ages 12-17 as well.
