Saginaw County Man Confused After Winning $4M on Scratch-Off
A Saginaw County man is now living the life that most of us only dream of—a life where you no longer have to worry about bills, inflation, and pretty much anything else that requires money.
If you've ever wondered whether people actually win big money from lottery scratch-off tickets, a 52-year-old from Saginaw County is living proof that it does happen from time to time.
The man recently won $4M playing the Michigan Lottery $4,000,000 Ultimate instant game.
There was a bit of confusion surrounding his big win. Every lottery scratch-off player has their own technique or superstition regarding how they scratch off their tickets. Some people won't scratch the winning amount, some scratch every number and prize, while others only scratch the barcode at the bottom of the ticket. The Saginaw County man prefers the latter.
According to WDIV, the man scratched his barcode while at the store only to get a message to file a claim. He tried it again and got the same message, so he thought the scanner was broken. He then scanned a second ticket, which scanned correctly, so he wasn’t sure what in the world was going on. The man then decided to fully scratch off his ticket.
The anonymous winner:
I went out to my car to pump gas and I scratched the ticket while I was waiting. It’s hard to describe the feeling when I saw the winning amount. I got in the car and yelled: ‘We just won $4 million!
The man bought his winning ticket at the Fastlane convenience store, located at 3540 State Street in Saginaw.
He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.7 million.
