Michigan Kids Required To Mask Up Starting Monday
I can already see people arguing with each other on our Facebook thread once I post this article. You may or may not have heard, yesterday Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced kids are required to mask up too.
Here is the skinny according to ABC 12,
- Children 2-years-old and older, must wear a mask or face covering on a school bus or other public transportation.
- Kids 4-years-old and older, must wear a mask or face covering in all shared indoor spaces
- Persons 12-years-old and older, must wear a mask while in classrooms, homes, cabins, or similar indoor settings.
These orders will be enforced on Monday, August 10th. According to the Detroit Free Press, failure to comply can result in a misdemeanor charge. I am not clear as to how that will be enforced, but nonetheless it apparently could happen.
I don't have kids (which we all can agree is a good thing), but I do have nieces and nephews. They wear masks in public, no big deal. They range in age from 9-years-old to 20-years-old. None of them complain, if they did - it would not matter. They are wearing masks. Thankfully they have no medical conditions that prevent them from wearing one.
Like I said at the top of this article, people are not going to agree with this order. Honestly I don't get it. The only reason I see that any kid or teen should not be in a mask is because of a medical condition.
How can anything that can protect your child or children be up for debate? That being said, I am sure someone will debate it. Don't shoot the messenger.
Have a great weekend.
