A Michigan woman hit the jackpot with a $1 million lottery win.

All lottery winner stories are interesting, but this one is particularly so. The 66-year-old purchased several instant Michigan Lottery tickets as gifts over the holiday season but kept one ticket for herself.

Yes, the ticket she decided to keep was indeed the $1 million ticket. Can you imagine if she gifted the ticket to someone else? Full disclosure, I would be bummed if I gave away a winning ticket, let alone a one-million-dollar winning ticket.

I can't help but wonder if she did gift the ticket, would the lucky winner have split the cash with her?

According to the Michigan Lottery, the winning Cashword instant ticket was purchased in Westphalia at Ox's Smoked Meats. Like most winners, she chose a one-time payment of roughly $634,000.

This is what the woman had to say about her big win,

I bought several lottery tickets to give to family members as Christmas gifts, and this Major Cashword ticket is the only ticket I purchased for myself. I scratched the ticket on Christmas and thought I won $1,000 because I didn’t count all the words right away.

Talk about a Christmas miracle! Let this be a lesson, if you too purchase Michigan Lottery tickets as gifts, always keep one for yourself.

You might be the next Michigan millionaire.
