This Michigan Retailer Has Highest Quality Meat Department

Finding quality meat in Michigan can be a bit of a challenge if you're not buying straight from a local farmer or specialty meat market. We're talking about the everyday shopper here, just trying to find decent cuts at a fair price from a local grocery store.

It might sound like we're asking a lot, but really, most people aren’t too worried about whether it’s grass-fed or locally sourced. They just want something that tastes good and doesn’t break the bank.

There are definitely a lot of options when it comes to buying meat from a traditional retailer. Stores like Meijer, Kroger, Walmart, Sam's Club, Aldi, and plenty more are all in the mix, but who’s really got the best quality?

What Michigan Retailer Has the Highest Quality Meat Department?

According to Chowhound, a well-known food and grocery review site, there’s one spot you can count on for the best quality meat.

The website recently released its list of 12 grocery chains with the highest quality meat departments and found Costco to be the best of the best.

I can't sit here and tell you Costco has the highest quality meat because I’ve never actually shopped there. But I’ll admit, now I’m a little intrigued. And since you can’t take my word for it, how about Julia Child’s? Costco’s meat department was reportedly one of her favorites.

The meat department at the much-loved warehouse club is a favorite of professional butchers, too, and it has a well-deserved reputation for stocking plentiful amounts of different cuts.

Costco wasn’t the only Michigan retailer to make the list. You’ll also find Walmart, Sam’s Club, Aldi, and a few others rounding out the top spots.
