This Michigan Tourist Attraction is 3rd Most Popular in the US
When discussing the most popular tourist attractions in Michigan, many people would likely mention Mackinac Island, Frankenmuth, or Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. While those are all very popular tourist attractions, they're not quite as popular as one hot spot in the state that was recently ranked as the third most popular tourist attraction in the United States.
What Michigan Tourist Attraction is Third Most Popular in the United States?
According to Family Destinations Guide, the Mackinac Bridge is not only the most popular tourist attraction in Michigan but the third most popular in the United States. That really says a lot about the Mighty Mac when you think about it.
The Mackinac Bridge was ranked higher on the list than the Golden Gate Bridge, Central Park, and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here are the top five most popular tourist attractions in the U.S. according to Family Destinations Guide:

- 4. Central Park in New York City
- 3. Mackinac Bridge in Michigan
- 2. Grand Canyon in Arizona
- 1. Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee
According to MLive, the Mackinac Bridge is the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. The five-mile span opened to traffic on November 1, 1957.

For some reason, I don't think of the Mackinac Bridge as a "tourist attraction." I suppose I feel that way because I've lived in Michigan my whole life and to me, it's just a super cool bridge that I have to cross to get to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
