The upcoming Firebirds' game on Wednesday has changed.

As the Flint Firebirds return to action for 2022, a last-minute change to the schedule has been announced for this week. The Ontario Hockey League announced the rescheduled games on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022. Two games have been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 5th and the changes involve the Flint Firebirds, Guelph Storm, Saginaw Spirit, and the Windsor Spitfires.

What changes were made to the OHL schedule for this week?

Originally, OHL fans were supposed to see the Flint Firebirds take on the Guelph Storm and the Saginaw Spirit against the Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday, January 5th. Well, those games have been rescheduled and instead, Firebirds' fans will see the team take on their rivals the Saginaw Spirit at the Dow Event Center. This game was postponed back in December when 11 of the Flint Firebirds tested positive for COVID-19.

The big rivalry between Flint and Saginaw in the I-75 Divide Cup Series will begin at 7 pm on Wednesday. The series is now tied at four after a Flint Firebirds victory on their first game of 2022 last Saturday.

Also on Wednesday, the Guelph Storm will host the Windsor Spitfires at the Sleeman Center. The puck drops at 7 pm for that game. The Ontario Hockey League will be announcing more rescheduled games in the days to come after several postponed dates during the holiday season.

This Wednesday was also supposed to be Firebirds Fight Hunger night at Dort Financial Center to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Keep checking back and we will keep you up to date on when that game will be rescheduled.
