This Week Marks The 19 Year Anniversary Of The Machine Shop
One year without a concert at the world famous Machine Shop feels like an eternity.
Even though we may not be able to celebrate with a months worth of kick ass shows, I think it is still important to recognize Kevin Zink, Johanna Hoelzle, the staff, and just how much the venue means to me and so many of you.
Think about it - 19 years of live music right here in Flint, Michigan. From Givensix to Shinedown, from The Cadillac Three to comedian Brian Posehn, and the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque Troop. There is truly a show for everyone at The Machine Shop. Let's not forget about Machine Shop Gear. You know as well as I do, most of us would have nothing to wear without it. As a matter of fact, I am wearing a Shop shirt as I type this.
I look back over the years and I am in awe. Never did I think in my lifetime I would meet Sebastian Bach or Mike Tramp, let alone introduce both of them on an actual stage. My teenage self would have never believed that would happen. Talk about dreams coming true. Do not even get me started on Ironsnake (they rule btw) and Royal Bliss. From interviewing Vinnie Paul and Spider One, none of this would have been possible without The Machine Shop.
I asked Chris Monroe what his favorite Machine Shop memory is and he shared this one,
"One of the shows I will never forget was the Nonpoint and Skindred tour when they were both on stage playing song for song like a boxing match. That was a blast!"
My favorite memory of Chris Monroe at The Machine Shop is when he fell on Lzzy Hale backstage. True story.
I also want to point out the fact that many relationships have been formed thanks to The Machine Shop as well. I know quite a few people who met their significant other at the Shop (myself included), and many are even married now. Not to mention all of the friendships that have been formed through the years as well.
Please share your favorite memories with me in the comments below, or on our Facebook page. I really would enjoy reading them, and I bet Kevin and the staff would too.
Happy 19th Anniversary Machine Shop, I love you - and I speak for so many people when I say - we can't wait to be back. You can read an update on the Shop from Kevin Zink below.
Hey Everyone! Kevin here. Just wanted to say howdy to you all on our 19th anniversary. Sure wish we were all hanging...
