For the life of me, I don't think I'll ever understand why some people refuse to wear a seat belt. You would think in this day and age it would be a no brainer to throw on a seat belt when you jump in your car. Unfortunately, that's not the case as it appears fewer Michiganders are buckling up these days.

Apparently, seat belt usage among Michigan drivers has fallen by almost 2% in 2021 which is the lowest compliance usage since 2004 according to Fox 2.

Michael L. Prince, director of the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning:

The seat belt use numbers are moving in the wrong direction, and it’s important to turn things around as quickly as possible. Seat belts are the cornerstone of any effective traffic safety strategy. We must continually remind drivers and passengers of all ages to buckle up, every trip, every time.

I have buddies that complain about wearing their seat belt all the time. Granted, they are a little on the large side and find it uncomfortable. I'm like, you're going to be really uncomfortable when you go flying through that windshield and you're mangled on the ground.

Do you wear a seat belt? If not, I'd love to know what your reason is.

I do find it strange that you don't have to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle but you're forced to wear a seatbelt in a car.

At the end of the day, you do you. I'm not judging, I just think it's strange that some people refuse to wear something that can literally save your life.
