If your commute takes you over the Zilwaukee Bridge in Saginaw County, this is the news you’ve been waiting for.

After months of lane closures and traffic headaches, the Michigan Department of Transportation is finally reopening all lanes of northbound I-75 on the Zilwaukee Bridge in Saginaw County.

When Will All Lanes Reopen on the Zilwaukee Bridge?

The project, which was supposed to wrap up in mid-November, finished ahead of schedule, which is something you don’t hear every day when it comes to construction in Michigan. Crews will be out Tuesday (10/14) morning into the early afternoon, removing barricades and putting down fresh pavement markings, so expect a few slowdowns while they finish up.

Police will be out helping with traffic, but you’ll probably still hit a few slow spots if you’re driving through while they’re cleaning things up. The work all depends on the weather, which is supposed to be pretty nice over the next few days.

This whole project was part of a $2.9 million investment to keep the Zilwaukee Bridge in solid shape for years to come. MDOT crews repaired expansion joints, patched up the bridge deck, and resealed the surface. The southbound side was closed for months earlier this year, so now both directions are good to go.

It’s been a long summer for anyone driving through Saginaw, but traffic on I-75 over the Zilwaukee Bridge is finally back to normal. That’s especially good news for commuters and anyone heading up north for a weekend getaway.
