Did you know that in some cases Michigan drivers experience road rage just from the type of car someone is driving, even before anything happens on the road? It sounds crazy, but it happens.

It's one thing to experience road rage after someone cuts you off or blows through a red light, but it's another when just seeing a certain car brand in your rearview mirror is enough to set you off.

Have you ever seen a certain car brand on the road and immediately felt your blood pressure rise? If so, you might want to talk to a professional because honestly, that shouldn't be happening.

According to a recent study, more than half of drivers (56%) believe that certain car brands provoke road rage. The study also looked at how drivers typically express road rage, including whether they yell or keep it bottled up inside. Spoiler: most people keep their emotions bottled up.

The study also looked at the music genres drivers switch to in order to avoid road rage. They found that 31% chose pop, while 21% opted for rock. Other genres that help keep the peace include classical, country, alternative, and R&B/soul. I find metal helps keep me calm...seriously.

Alright, let's get on to the topic at hand.

What Two Car Brands Spark The Most Road Rage in Michigan

#2 - Tesla

It's no surprise that Tesla enrages so many people. There's always been a weird love-hate relationship with the brand. You'd think all the hate would stem from the political backlash against Elon Musk, but this study was done in 2024 before people were freaking out over him, so we'll have to blame it on something else.

Many electric vehicle drivers say they've been targeted by gas-powered car drivers just for driving an EV.

#1 - BMW

BMW topped the list, which also isn't a surprise. There's this weird stereotype about BMW drivers thinking they own the road, zipping in and out of lanes without a care in the world. Whether it’s the fast speeds or the 'I'm too cool for everyone' vibe that comes with the brand, it can definitely get under some people's skin.

So, if you find yourself getting irrationally angry at a Tesla or fuming over a BMW cutting you off, maybe take a deep breath and switch to some calming music, like rock.
