This year's Rock on the Range lineup features a couple of names you may recognize from the Flint Town Throwdown. King 810 and Wilson will be performing alongside a handful of other Michigan bands.

Rock on the Range is easily the biggest rock festival in this part of the country. So obviously it's a big deal when one area band makes it on the bill, let alone five. This year's lineup includes Michigan-based acts Kid Rock, Pop Evil and We Came As Romans, as well as our good friends in Wilson and Flint up-and-comers King 810.

We've been lucky enough to see Wilson's high-energy, hard-riffing brand of rock up close and personal a number of times at The Machine Shop and Dirtfest. Now a large audience of new ears will be theirs for the taking on the weekend of May 16th.

The same is true of King 810, whose hard hitting metal you've heard on our local show -- The Flint Town Throwdown. The band is the subject to a lot of buzz lately -- some because of their notoriously rowdy shows, but most coming from the strength of their 'Midwest Monsters' EP. Hell, even Robb Flynn of Machine Head is a fan. They landed a deal with Roadrunner Records and are rumored to be at work on their major label debut. Their appearance on the ROTR 2014 roster pretty much confirms that something is in the works. Ironically, Kyng is also on the bill... so don't get the two confused.

Congrats to all of the Michigan acts on being a part of the biggest rock show in the Midwest. It's not every day you get to share the spotlight with Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer and Axl Rose's Gn'R. Hopefully, this is just the first chapter in a wave of Flint and Mid-Michigan bands getting discovered by the masses, as there are many incredibly talented acts we've had to ourselves for far too long. In other words, record guys, don't sleep on the Mitten. You can hear more great bands you're missing out on here.
