Possible Breakthrough in the 5-Month Genesys Hospital Nurse Strike
After more than five months of nurses and caseworkers walking the picket line, there are signs that things may finally be inching toward a resolution at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc.
Both the hospital and Teamsters Local 332 say they’ve reached what they’re calling an important milestone in negotiations. No details have been released, but the tone from both sides is noticeably more hopeful than it has been in months.

Hospital leaders echoed that sentiment, saying negotiations have reached a crucial stage and expressing hope that Genesys nurses will soon have a contract that supports a strong working environment while prioritizing patient and staff safety.

That optimism follows months of tension. Late last year, the union accused the hospital of unfair labor practices, while hospital officials said the dispute was being driven by the union’s broader agenda. At one point, the hospital declared an impasse in talks and said some nurses had crossed the picket line and returned to work.
