It's really sad to see so many brick-and-mortar stores closing in Michigan and across the United States. Some reports claim that 15,000 stores will close their doors for good in 2025. That massive number includes the 41 stores that one iconic retailer is preparing to close.

According to Forbes, retailers are expected to shut down as many as 15,000 stores this year. That’s more than double the 7,325 closures in 2024, breaking the previous record set during the pandemic in 2020. Those numbers are almost unbelievable.

We recently told you that an iconic store that has been around for 82 years was closing not just 33 stores in Michigan, but roughly 500 in total. Well, just a couple of weeks later, the company has announced the closure of all 850 stores, including all 41 locations in Michigan.

For a moment, we thought maybe the company would find a buyer to step in and save the day, but according to NBC News, that didn’t happen.

Joann:

"We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers, and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years."

The only good news out of this is that many of these stores are having major clearance sales right now or will be soon. This is a great opportunity to stock up or at least grab some products at a discounted price.
