Uh Oh, Michigan Might Get Hit With Some Serious Snow Soon
Michigan is about to get smacked with some real winter vibes. A cold blast is supposed to roll through the state late this weekend into early next week, and yeah, we're talking our first real taste of winter even though we’re still technically in fall.
Now, before we all freak out, the ground is still warm. So even if we do get hammered with snow, it is not going to hang around very long.
According to MLive’s Mark Torregrossa, we should see the first wave on Sunday, with some snow mixing in for the southern half of the Lower Peninsula. Most of that is probably going to melt the second it hits. The bigger shift comes Sunday night into Monday when temps drop into the 30s, then into the 20s (yikes) by Tuesday morning. That is cold enough for snow to actually stick to the ground.
Areas that always seem to get pounded first are going to feel this the most. So spots like Traverse City, down through Ludington, and over in southwest Michigan around Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. Those areas could wake up to one to three inches. And the central U.P.? They could be staring at closer to six inches.

And yes, snow showers could pop up anywhere in the state.
The good news is it should melt pretty fast, and right now it looks like Genesee County will see some snow, but nothing too crazy. Then we bounce back into the 50s next weekend. This is just a little taste of the winter fun ahead.
